Allow me to (attempt to) preempt the inane comments about perspective, and size changes. (I know it’s an exercise in futility.)
Alley Oop is a time-traveling caveman. Obviously, the ordinary Newtonian notions about time and space don’t apply here. We’re dealing with special relativity here. If you’re willing to accept the notion of time travel, then you must also accept the notion of length contraction. It’s all part of space-time. See the diagram below:

(I’m only half serious — can you figure out which half?)

What an awesome diagram, Tundra!! I would like to use it for some presentation, any presentation – doesn’t matter what, it’s just cool!

It would be funny if you labeled one of those lines as Oop Time or Oop Perspective!

I thought it was awesome too. I didn’t create it — it is an actual spacetime diagram.

It would be interesting to see the diagram labeled as you suggest. Perhaps the Benders could have Dr. Wonmug use similar diagrams in a “lecture” about time travel.

Hey, Night-Gaunt! I only recently started reading your story, and you know what? This is good stuff! And I might add that your writing skills have improved a bunch over the past year. Keep up the good work, Mein Freund! You set out to prove that you can do a better job than the Benders and you’re doing it. Whatever your detractors may say, don’t, don’t, don’t go away!

If you can’t make it on your own, why keep bothering us who like the Bender’s strip the way it is?

There may be 3 groups of people who follow this comic: Those who like both versions of Alley Oop and don’t comment; those who are disappointed in the Bender’s version and who would rather see our hero Alley Oop returned to the fast paced, fantastic comic he used to inhabit; and those who don’t know any better than to accept the slow moving, pablum the Bender’s are getting paid to show.

I thank the Good Lord for being able to choose.

It is evil to take away another’s right to choose.

There are many of us who would rather see NightGaunt or Larry take the reins of the strip and make it wonderful again.

Finally the Bender’s Alley Oop is doing something. Nice!

I have a sinking feeling that even if NG and/or L took over the strip all the snerky commentators (and I’ll admit that I have snerked a time or two) would start coming out of the wood-work and shoot them down!

    @Nun'Ya Bidness

I lke both versions of Oop, and I don’t know any better than to make silly comments.
I enjoy ALL the comments, especially NightGaunt’s.

like a sheep dog and round up the errant dinos. Take em
    down Dinny!
Good to have new commenters on the strip as long as they
are new and not just the usual perps taking on more new
    Have a great day.

Night-Gaunt49, back on the 27th you said “Because I can’t put it up on the internet . . .” (I’ll post the full quote at the end of this comment, so everyone can see it in context.)

Why not? There seems to be a market for what you are writing. I suggest you could create a web site for an alternate time travel team. Give it your own characters and name (Time Troopers?). Maybe start with one strip per week. When you build up a following, you can approach syndicates like GOCOMICS, and maybe have your strip syndicated. As time goes by, if your strip catches on, you may decide to bring in a partner to help do a daily strip.

It’s not all that hard. Once a week I do a (mostly) political commentary site. Depending on the topic, it can be time intensive, but it’s doable. Consistent with my skills, I keep my site simple.

In my opinion, your alternative strip is more along the lines of a gaming script for something in the “Call of Duty” genre, which is why I surmise there may be a market for it. As I think back over Alley Oop, I’m hard pressed to remember any strips involving severed limbs, and piles of bodies. Could be just my failing memory, or could be Alley Oop is a kinder, gentler cave man. Your choice.

Do this, and you will soon see that the strip (or any art, for that matter) and the creator(s) are one.

What you’re saying now is equivalent to “I like Fords, but I don’t like the way the engineers design them, but I buy them anyway.”

Enough rah-rah. Now, the full text of Night-Gaunt49’s post from Feb. 27th:

“Because I can’t put it up on the internet and it wouldn’t change my criticisms of Alley Oop that deserves better treatment. Got anything else to avoid the present problems?
You just don’t understand. I like the comic, don’t like the present duo doing it. Can you see that? Obviously not.”

Maybe the Benders are throwing us some challenges and frustrations to get our comment juices flowing. I do really enjoy the art and color in this strip.

Its making perfect sense, But remember.. Space and time is still relative to the observer. I just keep that in mind when i see a perspective anomaly. I figgure Jack and I are not in the same frame of reference.
