Alternate Alley Oop Chapter 17 “Deader Than Dead”(35) 3/7/2013 Thursday

    Panel One

Places where the “special loads” hit are bubbling white and smoking from the white phosphorus burning at over 1,000 degrees F. Just one good shot would end this, Alley considers while the driver turns the ponderous vehicle to follow the fiends.

    Panel Two

Through the outside mikes they hear more gunfire and screams but the whitish-gray smoke is building up blocking their view as are the glowing white motes from the incendiary munitions float in the air burning whateve they touch.
Firing such ammunition in an enclosed space with their people near is very dangerous for them too.

    Panel Three

(Unknown to him the phantom Baron von Clace has chosen the vampire Alley Oop clone as his new body. He just needs the right psychically vulnerable time to seize it.) Both Alleys have strong minds nad wills, even a sorcerer of the Baron’s caliber can’t
break that. His grand daughter is strong willed too, considering what she does for that global conspiracy called COBRA, but she had conjured him in the first place and allowed him to “infect” her like an ectoplasmic tapeworm. The ectophasic explosion at the mansion freed him.

Allow me to (attempt to) preempt the inane comments about perspective, and size changes. (I know it’s an exercise in futility.)
Alley Oop is a time-traveling caveman. Obviously, the ordinary Newtonian notions about time and space don’t apply here. We’re dealing with special relativity here. If you’re willing to accept the notion of time travel, then you must also accept the notion of length contraction. It’s all part of space-time. See the diagram below:

(I’m only half serious — can you figure out which half?)

Alley, I know the old saying that the bigger they are the harder they fall, but still……..

What an awesome diagram, Tundra!! I would like to use it for some presentation, any presentation – doesn’t matter what, it’s just cool!

It would be funny if you labeled one of those lines as Oop Time or Oop Perspective!

I think Denny’s cool. YOU GO, DUDE!

I thought it was awesome too. I didn’t create it — it is an actual spacetime diagram.

It would be interesting to see the diagram labeled as you suggest. Perhaps the Benders could have Dr. Wonmug use similar diagrams in a “lecture” about time travel.

Hey, Night-Gaunt! I only recently started reading your story, and you know what? This is good stuff! And I might add that your writing skills have improved a bunch over the past year. Keep up the good work, Mein Freund! You set out to prove that you can do a better job than the Benders and you’re doing it. Whatever your detractors may say, don’t, don’t, don’t go away!

If you can’t make it on your own, why keep bothering us who like the Bender’s strip the way it is?

I am but I like Alley Oop as well. Why don’t you understand that?

Thank you. Yes practice makes perfect, or at least it gets better.

There may be 3 groups of people who follow this comic: Those who like both versions of Alley Oop and don’t comment; those who are disappointed in the Bender’s version and who would rather see our hero Alley Oop returned to the fast paced, fantastic comic he used to inhabit; and those who don’t know any better than to accept the slow moving, pablum the Bender’s are getting paid to show.

I thank the Good Lord for being able to choose.

It is evil to take away another’s right to choose.

There are many of us who would rather see NightGaunt or Larry take the reins of the strip and make it wonderful again.

Finally the Bender’s Alley Oop is doing something. Nice!

A nice start, now if you could just walk us through the Relativity distortions we are seeing.

I have a sinking feeling that even if NG and/or L took over the strip all the snerky commentators (and I’ll admit that I have snerked a time or two) would start coming out of the wood-work and shoot them down!

    @Nun'Ya Bidness

I lke both versions of Oop, and I don’t know any better than to make silly comments.
I enjoy ALL the comments, especially NightGaunt’s.
