Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

Seems like Granny Aarvark is in denial.
Of course, this brings up the old “nature vs. nurture” argument.

Yeah, it does just a little. But she very well may be doing menial hand-intensive stuff at work all day. So sewing or knitting are out. Then there’s no TV or computer. At least newspapers let you read about the follies of the world.

Hopefully Agnes spends a little time away form Project Agnes to read the news paper.

The problem is that we first have to assume something is wrong with Agnes to even consider blaming the grandmother for its existence.

Perhaps we’ll just have to give the grandmother credit for her flawless character.

Nature and Nurture work together. Even a psychopath can be raised well and not become harmful.

There is nothing wrong with Agnes. So there is no one to blame. …. Grandma will just have to keep reassuring Agnes that that there is nothing wrong. Nope. Nada. Zip. Nothing at all.
