Tony Cochran’s Agnes is a whimsical look at childhood through the eyes of the title character and her best friend, Trout. What sets this strip apart is the focus on that limbo just before little girls discover boys and appropriate social skills.

Ever so helpful, our Agnes.
But …. sigh…. nobody understands her pure-hearted attempts.
Glad to know she’s real, though…. whew!
Thanks, Crash Gordon.

I seriously believe that principal should consider early retirement.

There’s an Agnes in every school. Though (maybe providentially) not OUR Agnes.

Pallor isn’t bad but our bronze UV worshiping culture promotes it that way. Some of us just burn. But Agnes phrased it somewhat indelicately.

Her heart’s in the right place, but her solution would white-wash (well, brown-wash) the perceived problem. Still, the biggest concern is that the children not agonize over their teacher’s imminent passing, so if some bronzer can fool the kiddies into thinking that the teacher will survive the term, then the effort will be worthwhile.

Well, it was either the bronzer or the make up kit. And we all know how well Agnes did with her make up kit.

breaking in a new principal at this late date would also be hard on all involved. the visits with Agnes are doubtless a welcome break from the more serious parts of the job.

The whiter my skin the less chance for wrinkles to set in.

I thought Agnes was waxing a bit Poe etic today. Delightful for us but not good for her.

This year? Like most comic strip kids, Agnes is in the same grade, same class every year. The same teacher over and over.

“The same teacher over and over.”

It’s always possible the teacher changes grades to teach every year.
It could be that there is more than one teacher in the school with the same last name.
It isn’t likely, but we must consider our possibilities.
