Uh-oh, Katy’s learning sarcasm from her mother.
Fortunately, my stomach does not scoff at sit-ups.
Sneers at them … but never scoffs.

May through August is the breeding season for shell fish, when they become toxic.

Depends on the source of the oyster. Local oysters from warm waters are more likely to have toxins in them during the summer, and, during breeding season, oysters are much less appetizing. Commercially-harvested oysters from cooler waters are OK to eat for most folks; those with compromised immune systems should avoid them in general.

Had dinner at Joe’s Crab Shack in Branson, MO a few days ago. I don’t remember if oysters were on the menu; however, our waiter, “George”, was a hoot!

I live in a Northern suburb of Branson, most famous for its bait and tackle store, and just South of the Branson Regional Airport, (SGF); but I have never eaten at Joes. I have heard good things about them, but I don’t like frozen fish. Also I am “allergic” to freshwater fish, actually I react badly to the pollutants they ingest before they are caught.

The danger is whatever is put into the water, Summer or Winter.

Yes, it does. You can harvest them during safe months, freeze them, and then serve them during the times you can’t safely harvest them.
