Something can be said for old. The best classic cars are over 40 to 50 years old. The best record albums are over 40 years old. The best built houses are over 50 years old. The best real wood furniture is over 100 years old. The best Stradivarius violins are over 200 years old. A rocket that could blast a man to the Moon is over 50 years old. I could go on.

So Mr. Repairman, “Does that mean you were state-of-the-art back then, too?”

It was in a developmentally challenged vocation thrift shop in 1993. a 1982 DEC Rainbow100 smart terminal from a downtown bank..they were smart enough to not use bill’s MS-DOS, instead opted for CP/M. i snagged it for $50.00, and passed a decade bartering programs from fellow enthusiasts ’til I finally gave it to one of them. Good days.

I saw in the news a few years ago that a woman was going through her late husbands stuff and took a bunch of it to her local recycling center. When they were sorting it for recycling, one of the things they found was an Apple-1 computer. They managed to find the woman and told her how valuable it was (they sell for around $2,000 or more on eBay) and gave it back to her.

It is a state of the Art computer, it’s the same one used by the IRS for calculating tax refunds.
