The Dems that said they didn’t want Pelosi are to the right of her politically and didn’t propose anyone else; easy to say NO without an alternative. The progressive that was looking for the job dropped out and whole-heartedly supported Pelosi.
The RW doesn’t want Pelosi because they are afraid of her effectiveness.
Considering newcomers like Ocasio-Cortez who is openly talking about things like how incredible her new health care coverage choices are, the Dems that lean to the right are probably getting VERY nervous.
I don’t like Pelosi either, but after Speaker Ryan, Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader McConnell no Republican that didn’t speak out against them has the right to criticize her.
That is actually a trunkless Republican in the cartoon. He (and it certainly is a “HE”) has been scared trunkless by the thought of Speaker Pelosi.
On a more serious note, four more years of Speaker Pelosi is also four more years of Ms. Pelosi passing on what she knows about being effective in the House, to female and male Democrat members. This is not a bad thing. Compare this with what we saw from Mr. Ryan.
“Conservatives” have good reason to worry. Pelosi is in contention for the greatest Speaker since 1900, maybe sharing the honors with Sam Rayburn. The worst nightmare of Publicans and Sinners is a super-competent Speaker managing the Democratic agenda.
