I’d love to see that on both sides of the aisle, but it’s easy to criticize YOUR elected officials. Folks on the left and the right constantly bitch about corruption, lack of moral character, bad judgement, etc, etc, etc. But we keep returning OUR criminal to the House or Senate.
You need look no farther than Pelosi and Ryan. Each is a stereotype of financial or moral or ethical corruption, yet the districts keep voting them in again and again. Ryan would easily win if he had chosen to remain.
Yet with all that said I still oppose term limits. The legislative branch has gotten so big that 98% of the work is done by unelected staff members. Many of whom remain in DC to serve another elected member when the current boss quits or is beaten in the election.
I believe that the work of Congress has become so arcane and convoluted that term limits would place control into the hands of the staff. It takes a few years in DC just to learn the things long time staffers know about. I suspect that these people would quickly evolve into behind the scenes controllers, leading their “boss” down the road they want instead of what he/she wants.
