Ted Rall for August 12, 2015
Transcript:
The LAPD told the L.A. Times to fire me. 2 weeks ago, reporter Paul Pringle called me from the L.A. Times. (Yes...? What's up? Remember the blog you did for us in many?) I've drawn for them since '09. (You wrote that you were arrested for jaywalking in 2001, and the cop was rude, cuffed you, threw your license on the ground. That's right. LAPD says it never happened. No cuffs, no crowd, no license, thrown down. They have a tape that supports their story: The cop was polite. You lied. (Tape?) Why'd the cops have stuff from a 14-year-old jaywalking ticket? Who stole it from the evidence room? Pringles e-mailed the sound file... (WTF? This is a joke! You can't hear anything!)
Rall got caught lying. That happens when you lie. Ask Ward Churchill. Glad he got fired. There have to be consequences for false accusations especially to try and gather personal glory. Rall is no better than army supply clerks claiming they were Army Rangers and claiming medals they were not awarded. They and he are pathetic.
And the LAPD does not have the pull to give orders to the LA Times. Think about it, if they did, misbehavior would not be reported at all. The L-A-T is a liberal rag, very much so. If the LAPD had tried to order them to fire Rall, they’d have refused then shouted the story to the mountaintops. They’d glory in their refusal to fire Rall on LAPD orders. They’d wallow in the pride of telling the fascist police to go to Hades. Liberals all over the country would swoon at the sound of their name. Farrakhan, Jackson and Sharpton, Obama and Clinton and Pelosi and Streisand and Lear and Jane Fonda would all be singing their praises. So no, the LAPD did not order them to fire Rall. What possible pressure could they use to force the Times to comply?
