That crystal ball looks like one of those old time gumball machines where you could put in a nickle and get a small token in a little plastic case. In fact, I think that spider might be a left over plastic ring.
It’s in the air! The “Betty” strip arc this past week is about consulting psychics. The arc started when Betty found a business card from one of them (Pippi?) left on her car window as advertising.
