One time Mom and I went to buy donuts or something at a shop whose cash register was broken. The cashier was skeptical when I multiplied $1.89 by 3 in my head. I wanted to say, “Missy, when I was your age, pocket calculators cost four hundred dollars.” (Only a slight exaggeration time-wise.)
