America’s political system is predicated on the “either/or” principle. It is not designed to function with more than two parties – any other party over the two main two is merely functioning as “spoiler” to one of the main two, and not even “Teddy” Roosevelt, one of the more popular presidents in our history, could overcome that fact.
We have elected only ONE third-party president, and that was under extremely special circumstances which we really do not wish to replicate – that was Abraham Lincoln in 1864 – he ran AND WON on the National Union party ticket,
