I’m concerned about them both. But then I’ve already mastered the fine art of walking at the same time as I breathe AND chew gum. The trick is prioritizing the efforts, and there, we certainly have our differences.

PS: Biden’s actually working on both fronts as we speak. What a concept!

The surge from the south is in return for the years long surge of military aid to the south.

Silly Democrats, always so preoccupied with real threats instead of the prescribed imaginary ones.

When will we accept the fact that a lot of the world’s refugees and asylum-seekers are in that situation because of direct actions between the US government and their home country’s government? Sooner or later, “you break it, you bought it” should hit home.

One of the most excruciatingly embarrassingly soul-crushing examples was early in the Dotard’s administration. I watched him cluelessly playing along with the Saudi male-only sword dance, and then watched with wonder as he helped caress a lighted globe with his new buddies. The news channel then switched to a scene where Nikki Hailey was visiting a refugee camp in Jordan, telling the Syrians that we felt their pain and we were going to help them. They’re probably still in refugee camps, and she’s going to run for president.

Sad!

Republicans are responsible for both, and did what they could to make them worse.

We’ve never not had migrants and refugees. What we’ve had, until Trump, was a functioning system. This time of year there is always a surge, as the milder weather enables easier travel. Especially, for those that are walking most of the way.

As so many have said, we don’t have an illegal worker problem, we have and illegal employer problem. Put stiff fines on the businesses that take advantage of undocumented migrants, and the problem would pretty much take care of itself.

One is a natural disaster, the other is a result of a lack of policy leadership for the past fifty years.

Isn’t it funny that it wasn’t a “Surge of Migrants” until JUST AFTER Jan. 20, 2021???

By comparison with COVID the migrant issue is but a ripple, unless you’re more afraid of brown people than you are of losing your life.

Because the “border surge” is well within normal numbers.

Offhand.. the dude on the right is responsible for both and the dude on the left is doing the best he can given what he inherited.

I thought Trump’s big beautiful wall was supposed to stop the migrants with Mexico paying for it.

The so-called immigrant/refugee surge is FALSE (aka a LIE). The numbers are comparable with the numbers in January – March of other years, lower than some previous years. There was a surge in 2019 that Repubs seem to be able to ignore.

Now that Trump is banned from Twitter, the Repubs are finding it to be less friendly since the Trumpers left too. Ted Cruz was ridiculed for his fantasies about seeing smugglers moving through the bushes on the other side of the border. Off topic, but several Repubs have been blasted on Twitter for trying to take credit for the Covid relief funds when they ALL voted against it (Madison Cawthorn, who doesn’t seem to be able to tell the truth about ANYTHING, is the most recent example).

What happened in the past has nothing to do with our current population. Yes our white ancestors abused their power. Yes the native population was overrun and sublimated. However, we’re all here now in America in 2021 and everybody from everywhere else can’t move to America. The world is overpopulated and that means the population of America and the world needs to be humanely reduced/controlled. I don’t care if you’re white, black brown or yellow. Race has nothing to do with it. America simply can’t absorb an onslaught of immigration regardless of the source.

That’s simple. I’m concerned about the one that kills. Without the underpaid migrants, who will pick the vegetables in the California fields? Would you do it? I thought not.

Because one of the two is how we became America…

Why isn’t the entire country concerned out the surge in rank hypocrisy and tribalism in the country?

False equivalence alert! Refugees are not killing 1,000 Americans per day. In fact they are not killing anyone at all.

It’s because the migrants are not likely to maim or kill me. Plus, when compared to historical levels, the migrant surge isn’t that high.

The crisis at the border isn’t an American crisis, that’s why they call it a border. The crises are in the countries where these people are coming from. Send them back so they can fix their problems.
