In 2012, the ticket costs $10-15, a small popcorn costs about $5, and a candy bar costs $2.

So back when this strip was made it costed CB 50 cents for his entire trip to the movie. Right now it costs about $25 for the same amount of food.

$10 movie, $7 popcorn, $4.49 candy bar. I can rent movie @ Amazon for $2.99, microwave popcorn bag for $0.40, and candy bar $1.25. $21.49 vs $4.64. Get a coupon for movies and eat at home!

And even when the movie industry started, some films left viewers feeling overcharged.
