How odd that Nancy seemed not to notice the 75th anniversary of the D Day invasion of Normandy. Since I was around at the time, I know for a fact that Original Nancy was ALSO around at the time. In the meantime, hats off to my Uncle Gabe (in the picture with me) – who was one of the original soldiers trained in the use of Radar. He was parachuted into France, with some fellow soldiers, several months ahead of the invasion, to give allies an idea about what they could expect when they arrived. Hats off also to my Uncle Loren, who was on a troop transport, headed to Pear Harbor, when they received word of about the attack on Pearl Harbor. He arrived in time to help out with the clean up. Hats off also to Uncle Ernest, who was on hand when the concentration camps were liberated. Uncle Harley, who saw action in Europe AND in Korea. And to Cousin Royce, who saw action at Iwo Jima. Hats off, also, to my grandmother, who, with the rest of her Home Demonstration Club, taught young housewives how to raise their own Victory Gardens. Hats off also, to Peanuts, Red and Rover – all of whom noticed that June 6 is D Day.
