Rita I was in the Army. When I was stationed in Okinawa the Army, Air Force and the Marines all had permenent bases there. When I left in 1975 the Army was in the process of turning all their bases over to the Marines and closing all the Army installations there. While I was there my friend and I took leave and went to the Philippines for a week. We flew in a C-130 cargo plane (free flight) and because we were the only two women after we were airborne we were taken up to the flight deck for the duration of the flight. It was a lot of fun and is a whole different perspective than viewing from the passenger windows. Going to Okinawa I took a government flight from LA to Hawaii to Guam then Okinawa. Coming back I was able to fly commercial and went from Okinawa to Tokyo to Anchorage where we had a 2 hour layover because we had to go through customs coming home, then on to Chicago to Cleveland. The fun part was getting home on the same day I left. I left Okinawa on Thanksgiving around noon and arrived in Cleveland at 9 pm Thanksgiving evening. (I had crossed the International Date Line so I had a very long Thursday.)
Good afternoon Vagabonds.
