When I was a kid in school, I was quite annoyed by my lack of freedom. School as prison, in fact. But everyone (adult) I asked or complained to explained that children ARE NOT adults and thus DO NOT HAVE adult freedoms and rights. And, none the less, they were trying (very, I thought) to give us SOME free choices, because without that, we’d end up out of school without having practiced making (bad) choices and living with the consequences.
I think parents these days haven’t really got a firm grip on the fact that kids ARE NOT just little adults, and they DO NEED more restrictions, rules, examples and discussion of why than adults should need.
