Congratulations to the LGBTQ community for finally — very belatedly (more than 50 years after Stonewall) — getting a nationwide order that protects your rights!
Surprised but encouraged to see that even some of the Supreme Court Justices who, in the past, have shown incredible blindness and inability to read the plain, clear words of the Constitution (no, corporations are NOT people; money is NOT speech; and the single sentence of the Second Amendment clearly and explicitly applies specifically to a well-regulated militia) are actually willing to open their eyes, read the law (in this case, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 et seq.) and apply what it actually says.
Yet also amazed that three conservative “justices” still remain so blinded by bigotry and bias, and a religious fervor that they are supposed to set aside in order to judge impartially according to the law, that they cannot see that a state allowing discrimination based on orientation which is fundamentally based on gender and the interaction with gender, clearly equals discrimination based on gender.
As Justice Gorsuch wrote, firing a person for the same behavior that would not result in firing if a person of a different sex did the same thing is treating people differently based solely on their gender and thus violates the law.
Example: if a man would not be fired for having a relationship with a female, but a female would be fired for the same behavior (having a relationship with a female), that is discrimination based on gender.
Hopefully this bodes well for the prospect that Roberts and maybe one or two more “Constitutional conservatives” will actually, for once, follow the Constitution to which they give so much lip service if or when Tя☭mp☠ tries to subvert an election that he thinks he can’t win (even with cheating and Russian interference) or, having lost, if he refuses to vacate the White House.
