So much for Bernie’s strategy that he would energize such a groundswell of new voters from among those not otherwise motivated to vote. It turns out that those not motivate to vote in other elections also weren’t motivated enough to vote for Bernie.
But turnout did increase. It was up, in many states, to levels higher than the 2018 midterm blue wave or the 2008 Obama phenomenon. But it was up for African Americans in general and African American women in particular, and it was Biden who was surfing that wave.
Biden was far from my first choice, but if current trends hold and he becomes the nominee, he will have my full support.
Remember, in 2020 a vote for the nominee of the Democratic Party — the only realistically viable alternative to continuing the current reign of terror — is not only a vote to get babies out of cages and put qualified judges on the federal bench (including the Supreme Court), but also a vote to send Trump to PRISON.
