Every time Trump commits some kind of bizarre, unexplainable act of sabotage against U.S. interests, many “experts” scratch their heads, but there is always a simple explanation:
It benefits Putin.
• Undermining military discipline and getting the top Navy officer ousted over a war criminal (of whom every single member of his platoon testified against, under oath) destabilizes our military system of justice which benefits … Putin.
• Withholding aid from Ukraine weakens them as Russia is trying to invade them, makes Russia’s task easier, which benefits … Putin.
• Trying to blame Ukraine for an electoral attack (breaking into the DNC; literally a digital version of Watergate, outsourced to Russians, takes the blame off Putin and puts it squarely on the enemy Putin is at war with (a war of Russia’s invasion), which benefits … Putin.
• Abandoning the Kurds, who did our fighting for us in Iraq to oust ISIS from all its occupied territory (and even provided the intel that allow the killing of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi), allowing Putin’s ally (Turkey) to wage genocide against the Kurds, and abandoning our bases there so Russia could have them, which benefits … Putin.
• Imposing economic sanctions on trading partners — the tariffs — hurt American farmers, closed off foreign markets from American producers, which Russia can then rush in and supply. This impedes U.S. markets and expands Russian markets, which benefits … Putin.
• Attacking U.S. allies, undermining U.S. trading partners, undermining U.S. strategic alliances (such as NATO), weaken the unified international resistance to Russian aggression, which benefits … Putin.
…and all this is just the beginning. There is much more and I’m sure many more examples will come out in the replies.
