The Titanic didn’t bump centrally against an iceberg and sink directly there. It bumped into it at one side, changed bearing, and continually touched it while passing by. Thus it got slit open alongside the hull. It continued moving, getting filled up with water while moving on for some time. It finally sank 2 hours and 40 minutes after the collision. Everybody could have been saved were it not for delayed launching of the lifeboats, the rule “women and children first” having been interpreted by some officers as “no men at all cost”, thus veering boats half empty to water, and the fact that by trying not to panick anybody, people were initially told it was only an exercise, so many women refused to enter a lifeboat at all. The band played music all the time (the whole music ensemble got drowned) and the radio operators didn’t leave until it was too late although ordered to leave earlier. So, bad processes and “fake news”-thinking combined killed 80% of the men, 50% of the children and 26% of the women. No need for Trump to shout “no collision!” – others can do the same.
