What I don’t understand is why the young man is wearing an ascot – when did THAT become a THING again? And should I resurrect all of mine, now?

And the pipe he holds is called an “oom paul” I believe, and it’s been decades since I’ve seen one of those, as well – the kid is really a blast from the past

@wellis1947 “And the pipe he holds is called an “oom paul” I believe”

    From: https://thepipeguys.com/smoking-pipe-shapes-guide/

“Stephanus Johannes Paulus Kruger (he whose image appears on the Krugerrand), better known as Paul Kruger and affectionately known as Uncle Paul (Afrikaans: “Oom Paul”) was State President of the South African Republic. Uncle Paul was often seen in public and photographs with his favorite pipe, a Hungarian, descending from his mouth.”

I leave it to the reader to wend [his or her] way through the lengthy summary at http://oompaul.com/musings/2014/5/29/the-odyssey-of-the-oom-paul-a-hungarian-really-by-ben-rapaport in which Mr. Rapaport details his findings about the convoluted history of pipe-making of the early 20th Century and this pipe-shape in particular .
