Interesting cartoon to appear on a day when the Dow closes down just short of 500 points in the red in direct response to Trump economic policies vis à vis trade.
The day before, the Dow dropped about the same amount, and then recovered most of the losses (still closing down a bit) when Trump did not actually pull the trigger on his threat.
Then today he actually did it and, whoops, down we go.
Democrats see a glass full of economic BS and see it empty of economic sanity for the long run.
Republicans jump from the top of a 100-story building (with no parachute), yelling, “Whee I can fly” — they’re still feeling pretty giddy as the plummet past the 20th floor.
The entirely of our accumulated national debt is the result of Republican fiscal mis-management. Reagan ran up the credit cards and maxxed them out (creating then-record deficits and exploding the national debt). Of course, while you’re in that manic spending mode you feel pretty good, so short-sighted fiscally-illiterate Republicans look back on Reagan with fondness for the fun party days.
The George H.W. Bush had the bills come due, continued to run up even higher deficits and, by the end of four years, was ousted by Clinton who ran on “It’s the economy, stupid!” Clinton took those record deficits, reduced them each of his first four years, and his last four years actually moved into positive territory (budget surpluses) and, when he left office, with peace and prosperity, he bequeathed his successor ra ecord budget SURPLUS.
Bush Jr then took the Clinton peace, prosperity and surpluses and transformed them into war, economic collapse and new record deficits.
Obama inherited the Bush Jr deficits and reduced them every year in office after his first.
