Well, maybe it makes me “no fun” too….
but I said it somewhere in this arc, the first time it ran, and I stand by it now:
NO.
Violence is NOT the answer.
The kid verbally assaulted her… making him a bully, and a nitwit… but he didn’t hit her, or even try to.
The rebuttal to verbal bullying isn’t physical bullying.
The answer is to rise above his level…. not sink below.
Annie has the brains to totally dance around him in words….
She can make him look ridiculous, win any argument…
those things are impressive.
Fists don’t make anyone right.
And what if he’s stronger?
She escalated it to physical confrontation, and caused him bodily harm….
Now he has an excuse to come back at her…. and because she’s weakened by cancer and chemo, perhaps do great damage….
and it could be seen as self defense.
I’m not advocating letting fear dictate her response….
I’m saying don’t pull the fight down to a low battleground especially one where you have the disadvantage….
where brawn triumphs over brains.
Run up, to nobler ground… you’re better off there, and so is society.
I expect a lot from a child so brilliant….
I want her to live to be a leader, not a thug.
