I have some concerns with Ivanka advising the President in her personal capacity while not complying with all of the ethics rules, she will serve as an unpaid, but heavily benefited employee in the White House Office, subject to all of the same perks and pensions of other federal employees. Throughout this process she has been working closely with the White House without the faith of the people in the unprecedented nature of her role. No public official — from the President down to a low-level manager at a federal agency — should hire or promote a relative, this is nepotism. She has already been on hand for key happenings before being appointed, and has started making formal remarks for the White House. W worked on his father’s campaign, but even he wasn’t sitting in on high-level policy meetings when his father was in the White House. It definitely complicates matters when someone who can’t be fired is this involved in an administration.
