Brad, your allowance is in serious jeopardy if your father hears you!

    Don’t feel bad Brad.

This guy named Les doesn’t know how to use a washer/dryer, either.

On the other hand, this guy named Gunther knows all about how to use the washer and dryer, and he keeps a clean house.

And yet, his girlfriend is about to dump him.

If you’re guy, you just can’t “win.”

I had a roommate in college who couldn’t do this. He had no idea how to do laundry, cook anything that didn’t go in the microwave with directions on the box, and had never gone grocery shopping before. His Mom did everything for him. Midway through the Fall semester, she called the room to say she would be by to pick up his laundry. I told her that his laundry was done and I taught him how to do it himself. I thought she would be pleased. She got mad at me and wanted him to change roommates the next semester. He didn’t move. Then she confronted me about it the next semester and told me to mind my own business. I said, “A 19 year old guy should know how to wash his own underwear.” I prefer mother’s like Brad’s who want their children to grow up.

My brother and I used to come home from college every two weeks with 14 sets of dirty clothes each. It took a while for shame to kick in but after it had and we had learned the ever so complicated and difficult task of washing and drying clothes, we called to tell our mother. She was upset. Actually. I mean it!!

Brad’s performance here is truly moving…if we’re speaking of bowels.

I had to learn to do laundry when I went to college. But when I changed schools and started coming home every weekend it wasn’t really necessary. I don’t go through all that selecting of water levels and such. It’s the same thing every time.

I’ve had it! Another jab at an American dad. I watched my Dad sacrifice for us and died young doing so. I would love to have lived up to what he was to my Mom, me and my sisters. Why has it become fashionable to marginalize the Dad’s place in the American family for a cheap laugh. I know this strip is from the past but this trend continues. I wish I could send an open letter to comic creators and comedians in general but I would probably get a “can’t you take a joke” as a general reply.
