Bruce the peacemaker and voice of reason, moderation, and temperance. Well, maybe not temperance.
Contrary to my new title of “Left Wing Ideologue”, I also believe the TEA party is not a racist organization. It appears to be mainly main stream middle/lower class America Unfortunately, it also has some racists and bigots within, as witness many of the rallies last summer.
The TEA party problem is that as a grass roots movement, it attracts a disparate group of people with one thing in common - they are angry at something. And without central leadership to set standards and enforce discipline, bad behaviour often results.
Republicans and right wing media work hard at deflecting responsibility for the current mess from themselves to the Obama administration. The goal is to defeat Obama at any price, and although they may not be inherantly racist, they are not above using racial tension to meet their objective.
