When I was in Jr. High and High School, my mother always had the radio tuned to (actual) news while we ate breakfast. I remember once, around 1960, a report of some armed Palestinians attacking an Israeli school full of children. Israeli soldiers killed the attackers. Two different Palestinian groups each announced that they were responsible for the attack. No other country said anything about it. A day later, and Israeli jet strafed a refugee camp which was the home of one of those groups. A number of countries condemned Israel for attack “innocent civilians”. I always wondered why the Israeli schoolchildren were not considered “innocent civilians”. I think that it was not until around 1980 that anyone condemned any attacks by Palestinians.
