It has never made sense to wear a mask outside. The likelihood of catching a virus of any sort while walking down the street is minimal. Always has been. You’re outside – the air is in constant motion (ventilation if you will) so WTF?
I’ve seen people running on a back country road wearing a mask. Last month I saw two people driving on a beautiful evening with the top down on the convertible both wearing masks. Like WTF?
Yet we counter this by going to a restaurant, must wear a mask walking through the restaurant to your table but the second your ass is in the seat you can take your mask off and do whatever you want.
Outdoor dining, same thing. Streets have been shut down so people can dine outdoors (I actually prefer this) but you have to wear a mask outside walking on the sidewalk to your restaurant, though the second your butt is sitting you can take the mask off – in the same sunlight and fresh air that you walked through and were required (in some draconian places) to wear to get there.
Ludicrous.
There’s common sense – and then there is disease control. Masks outside have done little to prevent disease control. Unless you’re maybe walking on a crowded sidewalk – which we have not seen in over a year.
