“John” you have alluded to your Christian beliefs. Does bearing false witness fall into your belief system? Does pathological lying mean anything to you? How about the love your neighbor part? Isn’t that part of your beliefs? Then, there’s the question of the poor. Did Jesus say you should be taking care of the poor? How about the sick? Wasn’t that another group singled out by Jesus? Then there are the misfits and the children, who need to be taken care of. Does Jesus tell you to simply screw them? Then there’s the turning of the cheek. How about that part of your belief system? Then, of course there’s the swords into plowshares stuff. Does that ring a bell? How about the rich man getting into heaven? Camels passing through the eye of the needle, anyone?
But let’s put aside the religious hypocrisy to focus on the real issue—mental illness. I know you said in the past that everyone struggles with their own demons. OK, so why, as a people, do we have to agree to struggle with trump’s mental illness demons? He is sick, you know. Every day provides more evidence of the pathology. Normalizing his behavior is not acceptable to me, anyway. How about you?
So, what say you? Are you a Christian? Are you capable is discerning mental illness? Politics aside, now. Do not deflect. Just calmly address these issues. Can you? Will you? Or is it politics and power above all principle? Is it that neither Christian values nor mental health are even vaguely important to you? As your Dear Leader is prone to say, SAD.
