Most likely the anti Vax types who want to have dominion over everything they put into their bodies will dismiss all of this as fake news and not believe these products are slowing poisoning them.

The Republican Party and some Democrats are stuck on their ideology. Free Markets good. Government regulation bad. They can’t give an inch on that or the whole concept comes tumbling down.

per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances? I don’t remember them in my organic chemistry course. However, I do remember fluorine is dangerous and stopped using teflon (poly tetrafuoroethene) long ago. Isaac Asimov had a book I once read on how many death had occurred from trying to isolate fluorine.

Humans have been poisoning themselves since they chose to live in cities. Not many of us want to return an all natural/organic agrarian lifestyle (without machinery) of our ancestors.

I wish people would stop using “forever chemicals” and “forever homes”, etc. It makes you sound like a five year old.

There’s actually a lot of random stuff lodged in our bodies. For example, a study a few years ago found that people with a lot of tattoos have ink particles sticking to various internal organs and generally migrating around. Is that harmful? In the case of ink, nobody seems to know. It probably doesn’t matter, though, because there are plenty of chemicals we know are harmful, yet nobody’s doing much about them.

This is an apparently even handed discussion, though it does lean slightly toward saying things ARE bad rather than “things may be bad, but we don’t have full info yet”.
