ArtisAnal? the republican party (and i suspect the dems, too) have essentially gutted the Unions. unless the economy rises above the point that a Strike generates a permanently closed factory that moves immediately to China, you won’t see “union made” on any products ever again.
Union leaders can be pretty awful, but they don’t come within miles of getting compensated the way corporate CEOs do. Besides, they don’t treat their workers like sh*t either.
Earth to dittoheads: less than 8% of American workers are now in unions. Toyota, BMW, and Honda, among others, like Boeing, have gone to “cheap seat” states in the south to evade unions, and hire people willing to work for peanuts, which is more than they were making before. The benefits and salaries these companies offer in those states ARE “above average” for these depressed areas, but are making our former “manufacturing areas” depression zones. “Right to work”, means a job yes, but for salaries, compared to local economies, only slightly above China.

Donate to Greenpeace or the Sea Shepard in the recipient’s name. It’ll drive the tighties-righties crazy as a nice side bonus.
