The USA led the world in solar technology, until Reagan pulled the plug on research funding. Now the Germans and Japanese and Chinese are way ahead.
I have never understood the contempt that righties seem to feel for renewable energy: Once installed, it’s far cheaper; it reduces dependence on Middle Eastern oil; it increases independence at an individual level — people in many regions find that solar panels not only provide all their power, but additional income by selling power back into the grid. Those all sound like conservative (or libertarian) values to me!
And when you add in the decrease in pollution and reduction in CO2 production, it’s a win-win for everyone.
There are a number of recent efforts to make solar panels significantly cheaper and/or more efficient — a dedicated effort, a tiny one compared to the amount of taxpayer money #45 spends on trips to Mar-a-Lago — could produce massive benefits. THIS is the atomic power we’ve been waiting for!
