Thanks Barry! You’re getting closer to your goal of 6 dollar a gallon gas so nobody but you and your rich pals can afford to go on vacation.

The cost of gas goes up every Summer and any attempt to reign in the oil companies would be denounced as socialism by the very idiots complaining loudest.

Does it seem that as stock market increases in value gas prices follow? We pay for gas twice. Once at the pump and once with the tax subsidies our two party oligarchy gives to oil companies. To add insult to the above injuries, the oil companies advertise on television to tell us how they are helping America AND they make substantial donations to the political campaigns of our greedy and self serving political parties. Why are Americans so patient with this relationship? An organization that receives grants and subsidies should be barred from making political donations to those giving those subsidies. Advertising should be limited as well. Respectfully,C.

I just got back from Italy. Gas is about $10 a gallon there. Nobody drives huge gas guzzling cars like Americans do. They would love to only pay $5 a gallon for gas!

asked @ruff “and the trains run on time, too, right?”

It so happens I’ve just arrived from Trieste last night.Yeah, they do. And their buses and their air-planes. Despite il Duce biting the dust a week short of 68 years ago.

    Che meraviglia.

pished-poshed DrC “Only you would think someone who compares apples to oranges is making some kind of point.”

Ruff was making a joke. I’m curious; since he made the remark, why have you not raised the issue with Ruff? Instead you’ve trained on DrC’s amused comment. Interesting. So, do you think this obsession with DrC is Freudian in nature?

Watching “righities” blame Obama for gas prices, and defending the oil and gas industry is a lot like watching them commit sepuku. It’s WAY beyond ignorance and crashed heavily on the shores of stupidity.

said “I think Canuck just uses every excuse he can to bash America/Americans”

I see his comments as concerned neighbourly criticisms.

ansonia said "I love America and am tired of the hate-America crowd bashing it/us. “

You don’t like being criticised very much; you don’t have a very thick skin. Have you sought out a dermatologist? Not sure if your health-plan covers such treatment though…Will your Obamacare thingy cover it in future?

”But the bottom line is that you can’t compare tax rates on gasoline in the two countries and come to the conclusion that that’s the only reason Italy has better bridges.“

Of course not! I completely agree with you on that point! Italy had better Romans than the USA did and their legacy lives on.

ansonia said, ”BTW, I don’t think ruff was joking."

Yeah, he was. And he wasn’t . He used humour as criticism of poor infrastructure maintenance. Works for me.

“Amateur psychology is so passé.”Was it ever in vogue? I’d leave it to the professionals.Ansonia is our resident Freudian expert though. Thoroughly professional; knows how to look up stuff , too.

said “Make enough money and the price of gas doesn’t matter.”

Since petrol/fuel is usually price inelastic, we should change how much we earn instead….Gosh, now why didn’t we all think of that!

I’m getting that 3rd job tomorrow.
