Of course if you’re going for a 10 minute mile (jogging speed) 30 seconds to check the laces consumes a high % of your time. (Less important if you’re doing a Marathon.)

I know they are having a contest but I thought this was being run in their gym class. None of the other kids showed up?
Then Dean realizes he has on Velcro shoes.
