When I was young, the vacant field behind us used to flood every spring. Only two feet deep, and only an acre or so, but we learned how to float rafts on it, (And how not to float rafts on it….) It would sometimes freeze over in the winter and was great for ice skating….I would look at it out of my bedroom window at night, the mysterious water shimmering in the dark, and imagine I was on a lake…. Now I live on a lake….
