That's the terible fall-out when artists try to please the government - self-censorship! Safe art! Mike: And you think you were turned down because your piece was considered dangerous? J.J.: I'm sure of it! It was either that or because of the ending. I refused to scale back the production values, so it may have cost too much. Mike: What happens in the ending? J.J.: I burn 3,000 American flags. Mike: Yeah, it must have cost too much.
