Dick: Now, dear... and then in October, Dr. Melrose and I tracked the geese commune in from Chesapeake Bay! He's writing a paper on them for the Smithsonian, you know... Heavens! Will you listen to me go on? I've been talking all afternoon about my birds, and you haven't said a word! Lacey: Well, to be honest with you, Dick, I'm quite enjoying hearing about something besides politics! Dick: Have things been trying lately up on the hill, dear? Lacey: Well, yes, a little... ever since the Lance resignation, there's been a real change in the... Dick: What? Bert Lance resigned? Lacey: Yes, last September. You hadn't heard? Dick: Uh... no. It couldn't have got much play. Lacey: Oh, Dick... Dick: Seems a little unfair. I don't think anyone could have balanced that budget!
