Not too long ago, after an accident I had to spend some time in a convalescent facility. It was a nice enough place, but I know exactly what they’re talking about.
I lost 35 pounds in a nursing home in two weeks. I just couldn’t eat their crap. They finally told me I could order whatever I wanted. I put five pounds on in a week eating cheeseburgers.
God knows that feeding an institution is not easy, let alone pleasing to everyone. I’ve been in hospitals and actually had some good food but never, ever anything that came close if even one egg or any cheese was involved. Both reminded me of sawdust when it came to flavor and almost hardened wood glue when it came to texture. Still gives me the Willie’s just thinkin’ about it.
