I remember when I bought my very first home computer, it was an Apple IIe (not a IIGS, just a IIe). I had to order the computer and wait 2 weeks for it to arrive because they’d just “upgraded” the model. When it arrived I rushed it home from the store and plugged it in ready to get started, but instead of the welcome screen I got nothing but gibberish when the computer started up. I rushed the computer back to the store and plugged it in to check it out and got the same result. The store owner ran a few tests and low and behold the mother board was bad right out of the box. I ended up waiting another 2 weeks for my replacement computer and the store owner was so sorry about what had happened that he actually gave me a game for my computer at no charge.
