Wait, I thought they DID go to a private school. What about uniforms?

All our high schools here in my neck of PA require the kids to wear uniforms. Tan slacks, blue shirts, etc.

I think the usual rationale for rich parents picking public schools is that their kids will see the futureless students and think, “I need to work hard if I want to get anywhere!” The jury’s still out on whether that works often enough.

I think a lot of times when the parent picks public schools it is because the child wants to go to public schools.

And WHY do kids want to go to public schools? First and foremost, their friends go there. Plus, they know that private school has smaller classes and that means the teacher will know all about you and their expectations will put more pressure on them. It’s easier to get lost among throngs of students. In private school, every parent expects their child to be top of the class. After all, what are they paying for? So, the load is less in public school.

The closest I ever came to private school was the times that I spent in the principal’s office, just him and me! That’s pretty private. Then the paddling and back to class!
