My older cousin who always like to re-quote things told me “There’s a sucker born every minute, and a jackass born every second!”

    P. T. may have said it, but he is not the author.

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

“There’s a sucker born every minute” is a phrase often credited to P. T. Barnum (1810–1891), an American showman. Though this phrase is often credited to Barnum the actual authorship is unclear.

It was WC Fields that said “never give a sucker an even break”I must say tho, Clovia and Slim are quite well suited for each other. Gullible!

The one I liked was the scam where you received an E mail from a U.S. Marine, stationed in Iraq, who had stumbled upon a cache of gold and jewels which had been squirreled away by Saddam Hussein and who needed someone in the States whom he could send it all to – a little bit at a time. All I had to do was pretend to be his relative and get 10 or 15 of my close friends and relatives to go in with me and he could begin sending the gold and jewels to us in little pieces, disguised as cheap tourist trinkets from Iraq. Naturally, he would need all of our social security numbers, bank account information, home mailing address and home telephone numbers so he could convince his military bosses that we really were ALL related to him! Of course, the part of his scheme which no one was willing to believe was the part about disguising the stuff as cheap tourist trinkets from Iraq. No one believed that there were any Iraqis who would be clever enough to produce “tourist trinkets” in sufficient quantity to help this guy get his Iraqi treasure shipped to all of this guy’s relatives the U.S.
