    @GoldenRoya – Actually it is a reference to “The Theater of Operations” it means he is off to war, or at least potential battle since Congress never seems to Declare War anymore we just have “conflicts”.

    Closer to MY time line, I remember and not at all fondly…“wastemoreland”…last week before getting out a bud wore THAT as his name tag. I did nothing but left-handed salutes my last week and wore a friendly bar girl’s tiger panties around my neck…we were required to wear a camo foulard…

    Eisenhower in Europe, MacArthur in the Pacific, I believe… Robert Watson, I’ve never understood that either. Why join the military if you don’t want/expect to go to war at some point? I was in the Army during the Reagan years and even though I was in a LANCE missile battalion, I wasn’t afraid of going to war and I kinda wish I could have seen some action.
