DC has no voting rights in national elections, and its over 600,000 residents are given one non-voting member of the House. When a bill came up recently concerning the governing of DC, the House Republicans refused to even let the representative speak.
dc has a bigger population than wyoming. but, wy gets 3 votes (2 senate and 1 rep), dc gets nothing. dc also has a lot of law enforcement agencies ie dc police, capitol police, park police, fbi, etc…plus the traffic is horrible, and the roadway network is a mess like dupont circle.
It’s a disgrace the way we disenfranchise our own citizens just because they live in D.C. I think it’s pretty safe to say that had the writers of the Constitution anticipated the growth of the population in the District, they would not have separated it from the rest of the country.
