While the various links provided supply some information, they don’t really report how much has already been paid by Berkshire Hathaway – and I find the lacking information critical to a rational decision. Nowhere in the reports did I read that the firm had paid nothing; simply that the amount the IRS claims is in dispute. The firm is working for a settlement.

It is disingenuous to take bits & pieces without looking at the whole. For example: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/editorials/warren_buffett_hypocrite_E3BsmJmeQVE38q2Woq9yjJ#ixzz1WRoIlYSf“Left unsaid is that much of that is taxed at 35 percent (via the corporate income tax) before he even gets his hands on it. So in effect, he’s paying taxes twice (that is, when his companies actually pay, anyway).

“Counting both taxes, his effective rate would really be well north of 40 percent for a big chunk of his income.”

This factoid has been manipulated and used against Buffet – as if to say he owed 40% but paid only 17%.

I’m not an accountant and I’m not nearly smart enough to untangle all these numbers. But I’m not dumb enough to jump on anybody’s bandwagon.

    The jury is still out.

“He has paid NOTHING he is fighting this in Court to keep from paying what he owes.”-———————————————————————I didn’t get that from any of the links posted on this thread. Perhaps you can provide a different link, showing that nothing has been paid.I’d like to read that, too (trying to be open-minded).

“Strange how you let a D-e-m-o-c-r-a-t slide, however if Buffet were a R-e-p-u-b-l-i-c-a-n, you would be screamiong same as me,Put him in Jail!”-———————————————————-Now I simply must call you on this. Where do you come up with that conclusion???I haven’t posted anything on these various threads that would lead you to believe that I am an unthinking partisan – have I?

Our government works with private owner banks and socializes it if they fail.Either they are private and stay private, to win or loose private. or they are paid for loses social by the taxpayers, they should be owned by the public.

“He has paid NOTHING he is fighting this in Court to keep from paying what he owes.”-——————————————————————-Please don’t bail out before you provide a source. Those links that you provided (I promise, I read all of them) said only that he owed back taxes; they didn’t say he had paid NOTHING!That’s why I want to know if you have a source for your claim. Honestly, I don’t know – but it’s not up to me to disprove your statement; it’s up to you to prove what you claim.I’m objective enough to look at whatever you provide.
