    My understanding is that it stands for “Save Our Ship”, at least that’s what I was told when I was in the Navy.

    OK, Tommasino A. Cat was his(her?) name. What did the “A” stand for?

    No, “S” is the only Morse character comprised of 3 dits, and “O” is the only character with 3 dahs (or dots and dashes).

    George Washington also said that political parties were a bad idea. Too bad no one listened to him.

    Too bad none of our presidents today have the humility George Washington had. When told he was going to be made king, he refused it, Then he said no at first at being made president. He was loyal to his country.

    What does Thomassino A. Cat do with all the money he inherited. Does he spend it all one catnip?:-)

    Ok, the acronyms came after SOS was chosen. Save Our Souls is another.

    @ransome: it reads “tommasino – a cat belonging to…”, not “tommasino a. cat…”

    Yeah. Imagine how much worse it would have been without a Republican spacing them out…

    Didn’t Leone Helmsley leave a big chunk of change to her dog when she kicked off?

    The wireless operators on the Titanic were among the first to transmitt SOS in an emergency. Only recently had it replaced CQD.

    CQD and SOS both were used re some of the articles I’ve read on the Titanic. Some of the radio CW symbols are given letter groups to remember easier.Example: / is same as DN jammed togetherSign off is SK jammed together (SILENT KEY)What if CQD were still the distress signal? When an amateur is sending out a call for anyone to answer him, he sends out a CQ – followed by DE – followed by his call sign. Thus, the airwaves would be full of —CQD——

    Given that Obama had a supermajority of Democrats in both houses of Congress when he took office and still accomplished nothing shows that you are as big an idiot as Obama is.
