Good thing he didn’t show the initials & hearts everyone carved in the old oak tree. Someone might have accused him of attempted murder. In those days, when you got caught painting your initials on someone else’s property, you’d spend the next 3-4 Saturdays repainting it, under the watchful eye of the town cop or a county deputy.
