Watch “The Phantom Empire” (1935) starring Gene Autry. Gene has adventures in an underground kingdom, but always makes in back to Radio Ranch in time for the show. (Start here: https://archive.org/details/phantom_empire_chapter_1 )
Actually “Sons of the Pioneers” are still around; they’re sort of like the oldest axe in Texas. The handles been changed a few time, and they’ve had to replace the head once or twice, but it’s still the oldest axe in Texas. The group started in 1932 when a young truck driver named Leonard Slye, a Canadian Chatauqua performer named Bob Nolan and a Tim Spencer who worked in a Safeway warehouse got together as a trio called The Pioneer Trio. Their first hit was “Tumblin’ Tumbleweeds” written by Nolan. They got a film contract with Columbia, and then Leonard Slye left the group, changed his name to Roy Rogers and became a singing cowboy at Republic Studios (number three there behind Gene Autry and some fellow named John Wayne). 41 people have been members of the Sons of the Pioneers; the current group consists of Tom and Luther Nailie, Ken Lattimore, Randy Rudd, Mark Abbott and Ricky Boen.
@news_techten: That movie and many more serials are available through Roku channels. Many channels are free (but there are commercials every 5-10 minutes. You can’t fast forward past the commercials but you can mute the sound). Google ‘Roku Channel List’. Currently there are over 2000 channels. -——Be well my friend.

And when I first saw them they reminded me of the “Sons” modern day counterparts “Riders in the Sky”.
