The republican ideal is that everyone has the right to make something of themselves regardless of how poor they may have been when they started. The irony is the last 3 democratic presidents have done just that, while the 2 Bush’s and now Romney all come from rich families and know nothing about what it actually takes to start from nothing. Reagan was the last republican to do so and it seems unlikely we will see another republican president like him in the near future.
