Total ignorance of the facts makes him that “always right” in Mike’s bio, and statements? The ONLY reason to ship oil past numerous refineries in Oklahoma, Kansas, and South Dakota was FOR EXPORT PURPOSES, and that was among the least of the problems with “righties” complaints on delaying Keystone.
www.hcn.org/blogs/goat/Yet-another-tar-sands-hazard?searchterm=pipeline BIG OIL benefits from the pipeline, not many Americans would. Inflated job numbers by the pipeline supporters. Inflated oil production benefits for the U.S. citizens as well.
www.hcn.org. The high country news has been keeping up on articles about the Keystone XL pipeline. A review of the articles sure shows the pipeline has a spectrum of negative issues. Property rights are used against environmental concerns by conservatives, yet they don’t seem to mind ranchers and farmers loosing their property rights to big oil.
Do Reuters and the Economist count as “radical environmentalist dream publications”?…….Exxon Mobil said on Friday that a pipeline that failed two weeks ago, leaking oil into the Yellowstone River, routinely transported a heavier and more toxic form of crude than the company and federal regulators initially acknowledged.……http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/15/us-oil-spill-montana-idUSTRE76E6WN20110715…….Many Nebraskans are worried that a leak from the pipeline might pollute the Ogallala aquifer, a vast underground reservoir that stretches from South Dakota to Texas and provides Nebraska with almost all its tap water and irrigation. The aquifer rises especially close to the surface in the Sand Hills region in the north of the state, near Mrs Luebbe’s ranch. The water table is so high, explains one of her neighbours, that if you drive a piece of piping three or four feet into the ground, water clean enough to drink will start gushing out. TransCanada says that state-of-the-art controls will allow it to shut off the pipeline before big leaks can occur. What is more, the hydrology of the aquifer, it argues, would slow the spread of any leak to a snail’s pace. But ranchers around Stuart are sceptical. They point to an incident last year in Michigan, where a leaking pipeline (a much older one) was not shut down for almost 12 hours. Another TransCanada pipeline carrying bitumen across America by another route leaked 14 times during its first year of operation, though according to TransCanada only two of the leaks escaped the pumping stations where they occurred.
Mickey Mouse, as Disney portrayed him, was the little guy always coming to the rescue of those in need and often it was Goofy that Mickey saved. If Obama is Mickey, he did save us from an environmentally dangerous oil project and pipeline that would have served China and the Oil companies far better than the people of the U.S. It would be satirically cute to portray the majority of the GOP as Goofy, but Goofy is just a un-intentioned good hearted lost soul, like many Americans. No, the majority of the GOP are neither lost, good hearted, (except unto themselves and their laissez-faire capitalist ilk) or even worthy of being represented by anything other than themselves; callous, deceiving, avarice beings that are capable of anything in their drive to repress the 99% of America into 2nd class servants of a new, corporatist run Nation controlled by them, the 1%.
The High Country News is an independent paper that has won awards for their articles, and are mainstream, including conservative writers. Lying seems to be your forte.
Whether or not it has a liberal slant, High Country News does actually report facts. Unlike the commentators from Fox news, who never let a fact get in the way of a good rant. What specificially in the article do you object to, onguard? Or are you just opposed to the conclusions because they offend your world view?
