So, The Nobel Peace Prize winner is protecting our Pacific interests by saber rattling at China by—-posting 2500 Marines in Australia?
US Marines are pretty tough hombres, but even this mission is a bit of a tall order for them. Oh well, the US dollars they will spend over there, along with all the contractor services, will enrich the Aussies at our expense.Well done, Mr. President!
Actually, it’s all global checkers, not quite to the intellectual level of chess. I would note that I served in ’Nam, for a while alongside some Australian troops, who were there to support US. They promised me a great R & R if I came “down under”, but when R&R to Australia finally became available, my plane back to “the world” was leaving right behind that first R & R flight. So I came home instead, for some strange reason.
Australia has long been much more our friend than a certain country in the eastern Mediterranean that keeps getting us into MORE WARS, so I have much great respect for them!
Not so, Neville….Back in 2001, many on the left approved wholeheartedly of the move into Afghanistan And there’s been plenty of criticism of Obama from liberals over his Libya policy, his failure to close Gitmo, and the sending of US troops to Central Africa. Thom Hartmann’s been especially harsh with him on this subject.
Did Rush, Glenn, or any of your other saints-of-the-right ever take Bush to task, over ANYTHING he did militarily?
Is the Pope Buddhist?
And again, this is a deployment of 2500 troops to a peaceful zone as compared to a full scale invasion that cost thousands of American lives, perhaps millions of Iraqi lives and billions of US dollars.
Oh, and I didn’t see all that many libs objecting to Operation Desert Storm either,..but they sure criticized Bill Clinton over the Black Hawk Down incident.

Hmm, super minor troop numbers, I doubt it terrifies China. New Zealand is apparently still a nuclear free zone, but not Australia?

those australians can fight but there aren’t that many of them. it’s just an excuse to extend u.s. military presence again.

This action is to reassure our Asian allies that we’re not jumping ship. They’re not exactly comfortable with China’s claims on the South China Sea.
